I work as a Honda mechanic. We have some issues with later civics and some of the S2000 with similar concern. Do a fuel pressure check, turn vehicle off, Plug off return line. If your pressures decrease you have a "internal" leak. Or better put the injector can be leaking into cylinder. So it is just flooding the engine. So when you unplug the connector for the injector it just helps reduce the fuel going in, during a flooded condition for starting. I could be wrong, but does not cost money, and easy to test for.
