Jim, Mike, et.al. -

I was reading though this thread Ultimate 2000 intake and I was thinking of combining some aspects of Jim's mod with Scrappy's mod.

Jim, you mentioned that you went with 3" hose (drainpipe) and enlarged the openings, did you just "utility-knife" it? Lookign at the intake it seems that the stock tube is 2.5", what if we were to get this stuff: Silicon Hose which would be much smoother on the airflow (and therefore we could mount 2.5" up to the stock connectors and probably get better airflow than the 3" drainpipe. Then, to top it all off, get an Amsoil filter for maximum flow.

So, to sum it up: Use stock wedge "ram-air" intake venting, patch in silicon hose (bypassing the silencer), and pipe directly to stock airbox with an Amsoil filter. What do you think?

It looks like it would be about $50+ for the silicon piping, but it might be worth it...
