They could have probably followed a typical lifecycle, producing and selling the thing for 4 years, moving pretty similar numbers to a GTR (about 1k a year). I bet they would even truly make a profit at that.

The point is absurd. The car is very expensive
TO MAKE (not simple lost R&D and tooling money). You cannot simply say, "oh price it the same as cars that are much cheaper to make, and sell more of them".
Just drop the price
