You DONT need to rotate the flange. All mufflers on imprezas 02 - 07 are interchangable (dont know about OBS's), but I had a 03 then an 06 WRX muffler, a few after market ones, now an 07 STi muffler. It will bolt right up without modification. If you wanted to use a WRX/STi midpipe/cat section you would need to rotate and modify some components due to our lack of an UP/DP...

As far as sound goes, there is no difference (at least not
a real noticeable difference) when using a WRX axleback. With an STi axleback, you will get a deep tone in the low/mid range.

I think this is a perfect volume.. This is what I currently have. I have gone through quite a few different setups, and others (stromung) will make your head hurt after too long driving... but thats just my opinion
