I just put a 99 drivetrain in my 96 2.2
I changed to the hydrolic system. It's fairly easy, you need the pedal box and hydrolic system from the RS. The nice thing is the whole hydrolic system comes out as one part, no mess no spills, no bleeding
the shifter linkage was different between mine, but the mounting point is the same so they bolt right up.
I didn't change rear drive shafts and the diff went right in, on mine I think the drive shafts were the same as the RS, don't know about 1.8s
