I drove a CVT 2012 Impreza. It's a high-revver, so you can't expect it to perform like a standard auto. It's weird when you expect it to jolt to switch gears and it doesn't. When you lay on it, it feels like a turbo spooling infinitely. It's kinda cool, I think.
People say it's noisy, but quieter than other CVTs from other manufacturers. I was fine with it. I play my music loud or have the windows down to enjoy fresh air and sounds.
To sum up why a Crosstrek isn't an Impreza Sport:
