Changing the radio is easy. Easy on the NAV screen. Voice commanded, or a simple push of the mode button on the steering wheel. Just like all Subaru's. I hated it at first and there are still things I don't like about it versus my 09 NAV, but I have learned it more and it isn't soo bad.
They did it based off previous sales(and inventory complexity). People buying Touring models were more likely to get NAV also; so, the comment that most could give a crap is not accurate.

Subaru's nav/touchscreen has been terrible pretty much since they started offering it. Smart consumers most likely would NOT want a bad navigation system. I would say in general people would prioritize leather interior over a wonky nav.
