Talking

Finally back in Vancouver. I'll send the pictures to Orbiter when I have created an article for the Vancouver web site. A video camera would have been great. With still pictures you just don't get it. The sound that Subie makes going around the track is intoxicating.

The day was fantastic. Started out in a RWD Escort to get the feel of swinging the car through corners. 180 right, gravel - brake, flick left, hard right, let it rotate, full power, sooooo sweet.

After 3 sessions in the Escort and getting to grips with the circuit came the Subie. First few laps sitting alongside the instructor. 320bhp full blown Prodrive rally car - it flies. The car is just fantastic. Technique is different to the RWD car. Much less dancing and in many ways, much harder to drive. The grip out of the corners (on gravel) just has to be experienced. Never once was I encouraged to slow down. If anything quite the opposite.

Anyway, I'll leave all the juicy bits for the article. Some words of caution though, it's addictive. I'm already planning a longer trip back next year.
