These cars have a lot of things that can leak onto that area. Most common is a valve cover oil leak, next is a turbo oil or coolant leak, then cam seals and lastly power steering fluid.

Jack the car up nice and high, put it on jack stands, chock the rear wheels and get under there with a couple cans of brake cleaner. Wear some eye protection and spray down anything that's wet and follow the wetness up as car as possible spraying it with cleaner. Wipe down whatever you can to get things clean. Then fire it up and get back under there. Look for the first drop of fluid you see and trace it up to its source. You may need to have someone rev the engine or turn the wheel if you don't find any leaks at first.

You may have more than one leak so after you find and fix something, test again.

Also, the inner boot on your passenger side cv axle may be torn and throwing grease on your exhaust. You mentioned your trans whining so check the trans gear oil level as well. If the seal inside the sundials on the side of your trans is leaking it could be dripping down onto the axle and then spraying onto the exhaust.
