I was about $40k into my XJ by the time I finished it. It would sell for about a quarter of that now. Find a Jeep with that ish already bolted up and buy that. I know it takes some of the fun out, but it's really, really worth it if that's your eventual goal.

Definitely not putting 40,000 into an XJ that I got for free with 270k miles into it.
I know people that can help me make the bumpers, sliders, other misc armor for the price of the materials, beer, pizza, and a little cash. The Aussie is what... Around 400 bucks... I already have a Chrysler 8.25 which is plenty for having 33's (maybe 35's next set) in Florida.
So far I'm in it for gears, tires, lift, replacement parts for the **** rusty's makes. If I keep it under.... 7g's I won't be butt hurt. I've got around 4 in it now, not including random maintenance ****. I'm trying to keep it an ultra budget build... And I'm not talking about extreme 4x4 budget either.
Your XJ is way bigger than I want mine to ever be, which is definitely no insult.. That's a bad ass jeep.
