Other than the obvious compolaint of oil consumption, my seat is my second biggest gripe. I'm by no means a fat or large person. I'm 5'10 and around 185lbs. The very bottom of the seatback has a metal cross-bar that digs into my upper assular region on long trips. And the back of the seat pops in a sort of spring-like way behind my shoulders. Only the drivers seat.
If I had faith in the car, and had at all a positive owning experience, I'd take it to a good mom and pop upholstry shop and get some serious re-doing of the padding and all.
That's one thing that REALLY sucks about these new cars with all the sensors and airbags in the seats, you can't just buy a pair of Recaros and swap. I much prefer the firmer padding the Outbacks I've driven, I would definitely be interested in swapping some of those, if they would at all be compatible.
But I don't think it would be a good idea as far as safety and liability. That's why I think letting subaru fix the seats is the best way to go.
