215/50R17's wouldn't be that great of a choice for you. The new tire will have a 0.9 inch larger diameter than your stock (215/45R17) tire, which will result in your speedo/odometer reading 3.4% low (ie: the speedo will say 60mph when you are actually travelling 62.1mph). If you aren't concerned with this, the higher sidewall will help a bit on uneven/rough roads. I am in Canada, and have an 07, and my winters are 215/45R17, since I couldn't find a 16" Rim to fit over our 4-pots. Is there any reason you wanted to change from the stock size?
