What car manufacturer on earth doesn't have cheaper models with smaller engines "on purpose", to protect the more expensive lines? No-one complains that a base Corvette comes with a smaller, "de-tuned" LS3 instead of the ZR1's LS9. Or that the top Camaro mill is only a 560-hp de-tuned "LSA" version of the 640-hp LS9.
Every company designs their cars so that the more expensive models have "value added". Why people think Porsche should be magically exempt from this, I don't understand.
