Talking Baja love..

Hi all.
Wanted to post my Baja story. To get some input, and also just to share.

Background:
My dad bought her in November of 2002. Shiny, new, and of course Baja yellow!!! I acquired it from him in 2005 when he decided a minivan is better to haul all his stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed her for 2 years, and saw her past the 100K mile mark.
Did my own tires, brakes, and timing belt. (I am a technician).
In 2007, my sister's Neon was falling apart, and I craved a 5-speed and the spool of a turbo. So she got the Baja, and I got myself a very nice Forester XT.
After getting engaged, I decided that I had to get out of one of my car payments(also have a Corolla for the wife). So the Forester found a new home right before the wedding(Jul 2009).
The point came where my sister didn't want to dump money into the Baja, so she bought an '08 Impreza... And here I am back with my Baja!!!

Bad news:
Unfortunately the Baja now has 180,000 miles, and is in need of some major TLC.
A bad alternator caused 16-17 volts to run through the system for about 2 hours as I drove home from work. Since then it has killed 3 other alternators, and a couple of batteries. It took out another alternator and battery on Monday. So next weekend, it will be getting a brand new engine harness, alternator, and battery!
It also needs new suspension, tires, exhaust gaskets, and eventually head gaskets. All coming soon.. Maybe

The plan:
Fix it up, and get it on the road.
I want to build a daily driver/ultimate camper truck! Maybe someday I will replace the engine and swap out the autobox for a good old manual...

I want this Subie to last forever!
