We'll see how this issue plays out. Mazda, BMW, and VW have all changed DI designs very recently. Mazda switched to a different piston and injector design (multi hole injector instead of swirl injector, while adding a piston bowl). BMW switched from piezoelectric to multi-hole solenoid injectors. VW is adding port (like on the BRZ FA engine) injection to their newest EA888 series engine soon (a 1.8 and presumably a 2.0 will come out as well). I have documentation which explains all this...
