Here's another thread on cylinder misfires:

You can read about my woes in there.

Yesterday I replaced my fuel filter, in hopes of possibly getting the P0304 to go away. I read in a recent "End Wrench" (Subaru mechanic's magazine) that recently-replaced fuel filters can cause the misfires sometimes. By that token I thought maybe an old one might do the same. Mine hadn't been replaced in about 45k miles.

Who knows. I've replaced plugs, wires and the coil, and have done compression and leakdown tests. All come back clean.

Someone suggested a valve adjustment, but I've also been told that the valves on my car don't even NEED to be adjusted. If someone can clarify, I'd appreciate it.

I had them adjusted at my 30k service, maybe 60k too... but I think it was the dealership that did my 60k who told me valves on the EJ25 don't need adjusting. So who knows....
