So he has a theory that the 5 speed actually gets better mileage than a CVT, independent of the person driving it, or the type of driving, or the speed at which it is driven.

The fun thing is he throws out his theory, and others start quoting it as fact, because, hey, they heard somewhere that 5speeds do better than the CVT, and everyone knows that CVT's do lousy in the MPG department (please ignore the CVT drivers who then pipe in that they are getting good mileage, and it may be because of the type of driving they do or how they drive it).

I among others started laughing at him on the MPG Warranty thread when he posted his personal scangauge results showing he could achieve 36mpg at 60mph, after he had already told us it was completely impossible.

He is mad because he drives average speeds above 70mph and the car does not return EPA numbers for his type of driving. So in this case he is right, driving at the speeds he drives it will be impossible for him to get those EPA numbers.

What he misses in his personal theory/fact is that the 5 speed turns higher RPM than a CVT at the same highway speeds, so his MPG's would be even worse with a 5 speed for his type of driving, but those are facts that do not comport with his version of reality.

So for him 5 speeds do better than CVT's for MPG's, that is a fact!
