Ford has always historically been "slow" to address recalls and the handling procedures with part allocation etc. I remember a few years ago a recall that affected the Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape vehicles. Mazda issued a recall several years before Ford had for the same concern and when addressed Ford said that they recommend the customer not drive the vehicle until they have parts available to repair the problem.
I work in the auto industry (dealer tech) and deal with recalls constantly and the manufacturer I work for is leaps and bounds better. I wouldnt buy a Ford product just based on how they handle these issues.
