Cool

Welcome to my world.
Your car has 135hp stock, don't know what the torque is off-hand. Most of the power is found in the higher rpm band. I won't tell you that you can't turbo a 2.2, but with the compression ratio they have it is difficult and controlling knock is a real issue. The least expensive way to more power is to install a 2.5 from an RS or Forester (sohc); that will net you 165.
There are cams, headers, etc out there too but the cost in my opinion is prohibitive...cheaper to buy an RS or do the swap to gain real power.
However, one advantage that most 2.2 L's have is ligher weight. They usuall don't have all the power junk, sunroof, body add-ons and so forth so the weight savings makes a difference. I find our 2.2 quite adequate for harassing most cars on twisty roads. Money is better spent on suspension and brakes, IMHO.
You can see what I did to ours here:

One good thing about Subies...they are WAY more reliable than DSMs!
