arm yourself with 'for sale' ads for same model year, and similar mileage gives you a little leverage over adjusters final say. also if you've done any 'extensive' work. case of my jeep JUST put 2k into tires, and 3k into a engine rebuild - faxed in a boat load of receipts to my adjuster after his first 'quote' of my write off, he called me back shortly after i faxed some 50 receipts and ads I found to him and the quote went up significantly to where I was satisfied without any fight.

I would go for a write off in your situation as well, it'll never be the same as it was, and you'll always find something that isn't like or feels like it was and your resale will be tough when someone does a carfax or whatever on it and see's rebuild/pricey accident on it.
