I bought myself a UD pulley back in the day...yeah, I had the same problem you are having. I asked lots and lots and the suggestion that worked for me was this:

put the breaker bar on the bolt, downwards against the ground. Just to be on the safe side I pulled out one of the spark plug cables. sit in the car, and click it once and the thing will come right off. I've been driving with my new pulley for a long time now and no problems. No one else who has done this has had any problems either.

btw, WD40 is fine to put on, I did. Put anti-sieze on the bolt just incase you want to take it off later.
