Ok, so the auto mechanic didn't do it right - he adjusted it to very little free play - so little, in fact, that the clutch started chirping when it was engaged! I drove around that way for about a day.

Doing a little research, I discovered that meant the throwout bearing is pushing just slightly on the on the clutch release fingers. Doh! I went back and adjusted it to 1", but the clutch still chirps a little when I push it down to the 1" point, obviously. Is that bad?

Also, my old clutch had the chirping problem, and soon after the clutch started to get really worn. Don't tell me all I had to do was adjust the free play and therefore prevent my clutch from eating itself...
