You won't be able to use any newer SS's with the 91 legacy linkage. The cheapest thing to do is swap it out for a used wrx one. The only issue, which I think we've discussed before is you've lengthed both the arm that goes to the shifter, and supports. So you'd need to do the same thing

As for the shifter bushings, I really didn't see any difference compared to the old ones, however Tom may be able to give you a specific answer. I know if you upgrade to the newer linkage, the bushings work fine.

Get the whiteline rear subframe bushings for the clunk. It may not totally cure it, but it should help.
