This isn't sarcastic - why is it that people automatically assume that stop-and-go is automatically "extreme" driving conditions? I mean, yes, I understand that definitely puts more load/stress on the car/engine, but is that really something that would deteriorate the oil + filter that much faster?
In theory doesn't oil only deteriorate faster when the engine is "hotter"? Also, with regards to filters not lasting as long, isn't that dependent on the environment more than anything else? The filter's job is to keep crap out of the oil going into the engine, right? So what if not that much is getting in the oil to begin with?
Again, this is not sarcastic; I'm actually asking.
