I did not say "this is the same" anywhere in my post. I highlighted the key terms that I think you missed.

I have tuned with AEM and I'm well aware of how it works and that this is a "hack", or as I termed it "work around".

If you've got a better way to retard timing on a stock ECU or want to put in some work to develop a patch to do so more elegantly, then have at it.
