Default aftermarket tweeters that will fit into stock location?

anyone have a list of component sets that come with tweeters that fit in the stock tweeter location?

i'd LOVE to use my a/d/s components i had in my old car, but figuring out where/how to mount the tweeters will be a challenge...

I would go to pretty extreme lengths to get a/d/s components in a car, if it were me.

Those a/d/s pieces are pretty large, I don't think your are going to fit them any other way. But it is just trimming the door cards, you can probably find a pair on here to re upholster and modify, so you can return to stock if you want later.

How large is the tweeter? Can it be pulled out of its mounting cup? If you remove the stock tweeter and use double sided tape to mount the new tweeter, It gives you a bit more room

I went with industrial strength velcro. Got my 1" tweeters in without too much trouble. How big are the a/d/s ones?

Same route, but mine will sitck to the factory tweeter mount. As I said, if you dont use the factory mount, you gain a little bit of verticle clearance

i don't have the a/d/s ones here w/ me at the moment, but they definitely aren't fitting behind the door.

the center of the tweeter has a bulge that sticks out, that is the main challenge here me thinks.

I have MB Quart P series components and used the factory mount and screw to hold the tweeters in place, and they sound great. Can take pictures if you would like.

I don't have experience with previous years, but I'm guessing the 06 panels are different, because my tweeters wouldn't even line up with the holes in the door card.

I debated making some custom brackets, but after spending 15 hours matting the front doors and wiring/mounting the amp, I was in no mood...and out of time. So, I also went with the industrial velcro (which I thought I was the only one to do this, so I'm happy its not just me). It seems to be holding, but the velcro is only stuck to the ensolite, which is only glued to the raam mat...so I'd prefer something more solid...and aimed. Thoughts anyone?

yes i used the factory bracket and used the factory screw holding the tweeter to the bracket. I can take pictures of that if you would like. Also the MB Quart tweeters are 1 inch and there are no clearance problems and they sound great!

Eww...stock location

I'm not a fan of the stock tweeter location. Putting them up in the a-pillar/sailpane area or down by the woofer somewhere will provide better results.

Having the tweeter closer will make them a bit louder. As well, the sound from the tweeters will hit your ear first, making them more noticable over the woofer. Plus, with them being at a different distance than the woofer, the sound is actually slightly out of sync, noticably so.

I threw my stock tweeter down by my woofer and liked it much better. Even with aftermarket speakers, I have yet to touch that stock location. I've played with a couple tweeters down by the woofer, up on the sailpane, and currently in the a-pillar area. When I rework my speaker mounting, the tweeters will again go down by the woofer as I find having everything in the same location and in-sync provides more pleasing results, even over having the tweeters high and unobstructed.

Anywho, do as you will, just wanted to share my thoughts about tweeter location. I'd highly suggest to at least play around with locations and see which spots sound better. Also realize aiming in these various locations will play a factor in their sound. Just play around.
