Thumbs up Hey, how about an Illinois/St. Louis Subaru Meet?

I was just thinking, all us IL/STL Subaru guys need to get together and hang out. I know driving to Chicago is too far, and going from Chicago to STL is far too, but what about to a central point, like Peoria?

It's about an hour and a half from here, and I have Family there. I might be able to talk them into letting us use their house as a meeting ground, and there has to be someone from this BB that knows of some cool roads out there!

We might be able to talk to the Subaru dealer out there and get them to let us use the lot for a Subaru show or something. Any takers?

would defenitely be a good idea. I have been trying to organize a possible MWIC Meet and trying to find a somewhat central location to hold it. We should nail out the details of this. Make it like a weekend thing.

ok, I can pitch the dealer tommorow if we get enough intrest. If they're open to the idea, we should nail down a date, times, and such for sure. We want maximum possible attendance too!

sounds like a good idea for a road trip, i think if it were in like peoria, it'd be fun to take the rural roads down instead of the interstate...

I'm always looking for a reason to drive my car more. I think a well-planned MWIC meet would pull out alot of people. I'm sure there would be a huge caravan from the chicago burbs

Yeah, Peoria. Now that they don't charge fees for parking at the riverfront, it would make a good place for a meet, with Damon's, Hooters, and Joe's Crab Shack all on the river. It's about two and a half hours from Chicago, maybe three from St Louis as some of my coworkers drive.

I don't know what the cops would make of it, though.

About getting down from Chicago, I'd take 55 to Pontiac; all pretty undeveloped, lots of high speed driving. Any father south and you're near Bloomington, and from there 74 is pretty heavy with cops.

What I each week is leave 55 at Pontiac and drive west on 116 to Peoria, about 55 miles of rural two lane. I've seen one speed trap in five months, though cops dop drive up and down with their radar on from time to time. If you have a V1, they are no problem. With the crops in, everything's pretty wide open. Just follow the speed limits through the towns; a coworker blasted through one and they called the cops in the next town who were waiting for him.

alright, hey Nick, would you like to make this a Sticky so it doesn't drop of the face of the BB?

How does the idea of a BBQ or something at the dealer sound? I'm going to call them and see how open they are to the idea just to give us some more options.

Thumbs up Good News!!!

Right on, just got off the phone with the Subaru Sales manager and he likes the idea of a BBQ/Meet. He said he's going to pitch it to his GM, and see what we can get going.

I'm going to call back monday and set up the details.

It's Parkway Subaru. They are the ONLY dealer in Peoria, and are pretty easy to find.

What date are we talking about?
I would definitely be interested, but work often interferes with play.
