Default wrx momo sterring wheel on BD

I saw a picture of a BD with a OEM wrx momo steering wheel, thought it looked cool, and it is obviously posible, but wonder if the airbag could be made to work, or not? Anyone have knowledge of this?

Sorry about the flood of questions, but I was told I could post attachmnets after 5 posts. This makes 5, lets see if I can post a picture of my 97 Legacy Turbo! Thanks again!

As far as I know the airbag connectors are standard, so there shouldn't be any issues there.

Personally, I think the Momo wheels are way over-rated. I don't think the leather is as nice as what you've already got. Every Momo WRX or STI wheel I've felt seemed no better than plastic because the leather is so stiff. The stock 2.5GT wheel has more supple leather, which to me is more comfortable and gives better grip.

When I first got my car, I had to pull the steering wheel to replace the turn signal lever assembly, and the air bag light was on after I was done. All I did was unplug it to remove the steering wheel, and then plug it back in during reassembly. What do I have to do to get the light turned off? I thought it came on becasue it was tampered with, and maybe has to be re-set with a scan tool or something. Any Ideas on this?

I was told by Subysouth, that some of the older BD Legacies, the voltage for the airbag is different. I want to say 95-97 is different than 98-99. It's the reason why he sold me his wheel.

I really like my wheel. It's not a WRX wheel, but a JDM Legacy wheel. It looks pretty close, but the logo in the middle is slightly different.
I think the grip and wheel itself is slightly bigger/thicker.

To clear your airbag code, did you by chance disconnect the battery before messing with the air bag? For your safety you should disconnect and wait 15 minutes, or pump the brakes a few times before messing with it.

I suspect if you disconnect the battery now, it should reset and you will clear the airbag warning.

I agree, I also like my momo wheel. It feels like it is of higher quality than the flimsy plastic or older leather legacy wheels. Be sure to get a pre 2004 steering wheel as the newer models have a different connector which requires some modification for proper airbag function.

I wish just disconnecting the battery would work, but it didn't. I had the battery out for six months while I was doing my engine swap, and the light was still on when I hooked it back up. I also had the ecu unplugeed during that time.

I also had the battery disconnected before I took things apart to replace the blinker lever assembly. That is what really confused me. How did the airbag system know that I unplugged the bag? Any thoughts on clearing the air bag light? And do you think I could use a 02 03 wrx wheel, or will the air bag voltage be different? Thanks!

Version.6 MOMO STi wheels in my 99 BD:

Everything fits and works EXCEPT CRUISE CONTROL, but I never use it anyways, so I don't care. The wheel matches a MOMO Race Air leather knob very nicely.

I'm not sure if 1997 will work or not. '97 is the cutoff date, but it might be post 97 or 97+

I'm not sure which one, although I'm inclined to say it's 97+

A few years ago I posted up in the WTB section for a WRX and wheel and had this little gem thrown at me

I've seen several on ebay...
