Default Any word on heated seats for US WRX?

I'm willing to bet they'll be an option sometime within the next year. Anybody hear anything?

Anybody added these on their own?

Nice thing to have for outings to the mountain.

Aren't leather seats the only type of seats that are ever heated? And Subaru is not gonna put leather seats in the WRX, I don't think.

as far as I know, it's not an option anywhere else in the world, so it sure won't be here, if that's the case...

I thought the boys up there in Canada had heated seats as an option? Hrm...

Those crazy Canadians' get it standard (like spoiler, heated mirrors??).

Sounds like possible options here next year.

Default Leather Seats

In Australia I saw at a dealer leather interior on an MY01/MY02 WRX. If the heating option is only for them then it might not be far away.

I think they may very well become an option along with some other stuff such as the spoiler, boost guage, etc. I don't see why it would be so hard to do it if the Canadian WRX's come with it standard.

i really doubt they will ever be an option - you guys must have never tried to take apart a wrx seat, because if you had, you'd realize how much of a pain in the ass it is. it'll either be standard, or there will be ones with them & ones without them rolling in to the us, in which case, you'd just have to get one with them if you wanted it.

I would think the heated seats will come to the US. As pointed out, my southern neighbors get them. And if you also take into account that the Legacy's now offer heated seats in the GT trim, previously they didn't. And as far as only leather being heated, the OB's had heated cloth seats, so there could be heated cloth in the WRX/OBS.

Talking

I don't mean to stir up hate and discontent, but...

Bah! to heated seats! Your butt will warm a cold seat up after a few minutes!
I want air cooled seats for those hot days! You'll see what I mean next summer when we're all baking in our WRX's black interior!
Even with the air on my back still sweats! Ewww!

I thought that way to before mine were given to me STANDARD. I'd never go back. They heat up quicker then the cabin in the winter keeping you warm and in the summer when your back is bothering you turn it on and crank the AC. Heaven.

Well I have the 2002 Wiring System Manual for the US Impreza sitting in front of me, and they have the diagrams for the heated seats on page 120. So unless this is a generic manual, then I'd say the seats are on the way.

Cheers

If this "isn't" an option in the U.S. why was I asked if I wanted them when I bought my'00 2.5rs?

The shop manual covers North American models.

That's why the heated mirrors are there too.

I just got done installing mine. I didn't think ripping apart the seat was hard at all.. in fact, I kinda had fun

Anyway.. I'm willing to bet subaru will give us the all weather package next year. First they give us the RS to put their toe in the water and see what happens.. now they've given us the WRX.. although without most of the goodies. They now know that there's tons of money to be made.. especially with wrx's that come fully loaded with all the goodies. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has emailed them saying "GIMMIE!".

It'd be nice if they gave current WRX owners some sort of discount towards these accessories in the future.. cause I don't know what they were thinking.. but being in New England without heated mirrors SUCKS.

The Subaru sales manager at Cumberland Vally Motors received is WRX wagon a month ago with leather heated sets. I'll find out more about it in a week when I go in for service.

raxy: My Forester has heated seats which came with its all-weather package along with heated mirrors and the strip at the base of the windshield.

WRX500: true, a seat cooler would be better for black seats (mine are gray) but probably more expensive to produce. Besides, the seat heaters aren't just for your butt. They're great for your lower back, which makes the Monday morning commute atfer a weekend of work around the house tolderable.

I'm with lenyx: it seems SoA gradually introduces content in its models throughout the model run, making the last year of a specific model the most content-laden. For example, I couldn't get a moonroof, variable intermittent front wipers and a variable rear wiper in '00.
