DC-to-AC Power Inverter
So I have one of these:
and my question is.. Instead of using the cig lighter, would I be able to cut off that adapter and just use the power and ground directly somewhere? I'm trying to put that adapter somewhere clean and flush and I want to hide those wires. I searched around and seen a couple people do it, but I wasn't sure if it was safe/possible. Any input appreciated. Thanks, Getti |

Yes, just use a good attachment method, and properly insulate. You could probably just tap the cigarette lighter wires for convenience.

Yes you can with no problems. Make sure you find the right wires for positive and negative. And then properly crimp and heatshrink your connections and you'll be good to go!

I'd think you'd want to tap ACC power.
so make sure that you are in a 12v ACC line, and check the fuse rating of the line you go in on. |

Just watch the heat in an install like that, without air circulation, you could trip the unit. Looks very nice though.

thats exactly where im putting it!
BUT im doing it the other way around (outlet pointing backward, anda i have 2 outlets) and then im cutting air vents on the sides of the armrest (the sides that are next to the seats) so you wont notice the slits, but it will be able to breathe! @micker - very very clean job man! |

When tapping wires. I would run straight from the battery. I installed one in my car. I tried just using the cig adapter and my ps2 would not start. It had enough power for the lights but the game disc would not spin. I hard wired to a splitter that has 2 gauge running to. After that the ps 2 works great. This is with the car not running. Micker72 That is an awsome looking install. You have given me some ideas.
