Default my goals for a hybrid. what would i need

In the next year i would like to do a 6mt swap first. But then i want to do a hybrid swap also. My goal is to get into the 400hp area on 93. WHat would it take for a hybrid to be reliable and to make that much power. Or do you think i should just try and get ahold of a whole long block.

Any input will be great. I have been doing a lot of research on the hybrids and seeking out my options but i figure maybe some people would like give some input.

You can make that kind of power on a hybrid, but you're going to have to upgrade your cams at a minimum. That and a bigger turbo for sure if you are talking 400 WHEEL hp. If you have the cash, get the whole longblock.

I ran a 3071 .63 on an OEM hybrid w/ wrx cams. I made well over 400whp with enginuity as a base flash, and then UTEC for tuning.

SPEND THE MONEY ON LARGER CAMS. 264 or bigger if you are staying with non-AVCS heads.

Head work isn't a neccessity, just use the proper springs to support your desired rev limit. Also, fork over the $300 for shimless buckets if your '03 doesn't have them.

Don't bother running 2.0 cams and a 2.5 engine if you hope to make more than 350whp by redline. "Peak horsepower" will never be a a gauge on how "fast" a car is.
