Default car stalls and cel?????

Here's the story: hope someone can help

This monrning I go to fill up the tank and after that I go to the store. Go home and stay there for about 1/2 hour. When I get back in the car to go somewhere I start up the car....starts normally but then it just dies. So I say to myself what the F was that??? I turn the key again and it starts normally and then dies right away. So the next time I start the car I give it alittle gas after it turns over..the rpms drop and it idles normally. So basically if I don't give it any gas after I start it up it just dies. So I go on my way and when I get to chruch I check the gas cap and it's alittle lose. So I tighten it. I get to chruch and hour later i go to start the car and it dies again. So i start it and give it a little gas and it idles normally. A Minute later the CEL come on.

First of all let me say that I am going to bring it to the dealer...but I just wanted to see if anyone had any helpful thoughts. The CEl also only came on after I tighten the gas cap and let the car sit for an hour. + The hoses on the little black box in the bottom rear right were not loose.

I would get the codes pulled, a simple test would be to see if its your egt probe messing things up.

Under the plastic cover next to the pass shocktower, trace EGT harness going down into the up pipe, unplug it then see if the car runs fine.

could be anything though

good luck

hey guys!
IM not sure if this is related to your problem but when my engine is warm and i start up the car the rpms shoot up like normal but drop almost to like 200??? and seems like it almost dies! it has never stalled though. I was just wondering if this is similar to what you are having?

Shaggee....did it just happen that one time or is it happening all the time now?? Do you have a drop in K&N?

Don't know if it was really the filter but this is what happened when I brought it to the dealer the next day.

Basically what ended up happening was that the codes were cleared/reset and the stock filter put in. Since then not one stall, no cel, and it seems a bit more peppy. What I mean is that since I put the K&N in it was actually a bit sluggish. Since the reset it's seems more responsive. What exactly it was I don't know...but it is much better now

P.S. I could have sworn it was securely closed and that there wasn't an excess of oil on it.. It's been said that if there is too much oil on the filter it can get on the MAP and cause false readings or even destroy it.
