The approx. 0.5 mile course will be utilizing the Purple Lot parking area and portions of the sprint car track and infield. •Pre-registration: We prefer you pre-register at www.motorsportsreg.com to aid our planning and for establishing run groups prior to the event. Entry fees will be $60 for current SCCA Members and $75 for Non-members. The Non-member fee includes an SCCA Weekend Membership and will give you a $15-discount towards membership, a copy of SportsCar (our national magazine), a DVD about SCCA, and is valid for the event activities. *10-day/$10-plan: $40/$55 postmarked not later than March 12, 2008. Checks accepted. Mail checks to: AAR-SCCA, PO Box 220108, Anchorage, AK 99522-0108. *Pre-reg/Pay@Event: $50/$65 Pre-registering online and paying at the event. *Walk-up Reg/Pay@Event: $60/75 *Refunds: No refunds until the end of the RallyCross season or 30-days, whichever later. This form must signed by the participant’s parents and presented prior to competition. •Supplemental Instructions: Please review the Supplemental Instructions for this event which lists site specific and regional vehicle class information, timing and scoring methods used, course penalties, information on awards, etc. These can be reviewed online at our website: www.alaskascca.com •Classes: The 2008 Season RallyX regional classes are: Stock and Modified. Each of these classes have two-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles included. Tires allowed are all-season, summer, or snow tires with or without street studs. Use of "enhanced" tires" i.e. performance rally tires, tires with more studs than highway legal, extreme mud/snow tires with large paddles, lugs, etc., will NOT be allowed. Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection, with engine muffled, seat belts in working order, etc. to the Tech Inspection Team at 9AM. A Tech Checklist is available online at our website. Vehicles shall not have leaking fluids Vehicles with a high-center of gravity (lifted trucks) or vehicles emitting excessive noise will not be allowed to compete. This decision will be at the discretion of the Event Chairman and/or Tech Inspector. Review the National Rules on our website: www.alaskascca.com •Loaner Helmets: We encourage you to bring your own helmet. Minimum Snell SA-95, K95, or M-95 rating. The region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event, there is a $10 charge for use during the event. *Schedule Registration 8:30 AM Tech and Course Walk: 9:00 AM Driver’s Meeting: 10:00 AM AM Session: 11:00 AM, 2 Runs per Group Lunch Break/Reset Course PM Session, 2 Runs per Group Awards: 5:30 PM Course Teardown: 6:00PM Cars will have been gridded departing Tech, and we will have the first car on course at 11AM. There will be two runs per group, with a 3 minute lunch break (the rally cross team will be resetting the course as needed) and then resume with the final two runs of the day. Your best 3 out of 4 runs will count for your time. •Directions: North out of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway, take exit to Palmer. After passing the Alaska State Fairgrounds at Mile 40, make a right turn at Inner Springer Road headed east, (Spenard Builders will be on your left), turn right again on second Inner Springer Rd, headed south. Look for the SCCA "wheel" sign and turn right onto the Fairgrounds property and check-in at the Registration canopy. Continue to the Pit/Paddock area at the north side of the lot to present your car to Tech. •No Pets: Many of us have them and they travel along with us. The rental agreement for the Alaska State Fair allows no pets on the site. •Food: The Region will have muffins and beverages in the morning, however there will be NO LUNCH served. There will be a 30 minute break for lunch which is not enough time to drive into Palmer, so please plan accordingly and bring your lunch to the event! The Region will have water for the competitors. •Viewing: We realize that you may want to bring your family and friends to watch. Viewing areas are "outside" the fence on the north & east of the Purple Lot and in the grandstands. No non-participants will be allowed inside the Purple Lot fenced area. The Arctic Alaska Region is pleased to be returning to the sport of RallyCross See you in Palmer! Last edited by cooparu; 03-05-2008 at 11:40 PM. |

You think it is fast for eatin'? You should see the RallyCross Safety Stewards hustling to get the course reset in three minutes, ha! Cooperu, where are you?
As for meal choices--I'd suggest competitors bring "fast food" for lunch!!! Official count to date is "8" registered; are YOU going to be enter? |

Okay, so, who's interested but on the fence regarding this event? Questions, concerns?
Fire away. A few years back I took the plunge and participated in a rallycross event, just on a whim. It was probably one of the best decisions I've made. ![]() If you're thinking about it, try it. Seriously. ![]() |

I just checked the motorsportsreg site and see that only 11 Alaskans are planning on competing in the first RallyCross in two years--the March Madness RallyCross.
As an SCCA member of the Board of Directors, I will be watching the interest (this means participation) and enthusiasm from the motorsports community--it will be the basis for the program continuing. Thinking about entering? I believe a current member of our Board was a lookey-lou at the first RallyCross and decided he "should" have (or better yet--could have) entered. Cooperoo? Well, he found a new passion at the first RallyCross and "kicked dirt"! The $20 savings goes away tomorrow and then you'll only have a $10 savings until the 20th. What are YOU waiting for - Come Join Us! |

Yes, I participated in my first SCCA event on a whim, in my old car, in a rally-x. Best decision I'd made in a long time. Fun, fun, fun! Even though my old car (much like my current car) had little in the way of power, I drove only as hard as I felt comfortable (all out), and still did fairly well. Come out, and give this "old man" with a slow car some competition. ![]() Do it! Seriously! |

yeah. do it.
nearly all of you say how much you want to and how you all love to drive and you all have nice cars to drive. So why don't you drive them as they're meant to be driven in a super safe and sanctioned event? and if you say you're worried about your car, do you really think that your cars, which were bred for this sort of stuff, can't handle a simple rally cross on a dirt road? that's sad. it can't be any harder on your car than racing down the straight away on the way to girdwood, or racing street light to street light, or trying to drift in parking lots. If you're worried about chips, and stuff go to walmart buy some painters tape and go to town. it's cheap, it's easy and it works. autocross, the track and rally cross is the time to prove yourself. it's time to put your mods and your ego to the test. yet, a lot of you don't do it. why? i can understand if you have some other stuff going on. but if you're just going to tool around on the weekend anyway, you might as well come out. don't come watch, watching it boring. watching autocross and rallycross is like watching someone masturbate. It's not that rad to watch and you don't understand why it's fun--- until you do it. then you have a blast and were like "why haven't I always done this?!" |

Wise words Damion. I signed up.
If us as Alaskans ever want to see anymore motorsports up here, we are going to have to create an interest. Wouldn't it be awesome if one day the WRC had place up here because more people participate? More interest in the sport means more people paying money towards research, foundation and building of more courses. There is a way! We are Alaska and we have the ability to make it happen, don't just sit back, do something! Last edited by Firestrike; 03-12-2008 at 02:40 PM. |

Okay, folks, it's almost a week away. I KNOW a lot of you are interested in this event, so if you're not sure about it, ASK QUESTIONS here. Or better yet, just take the "risk" and try it. Register!
This is our first rallycross event in 2 years. Come out and support an event that is perfect for your cars. We seem to be in for a long, slow breakup. Come out and make the most of it. ![]() |

Do you need to register to work a corner? I'm very interested in rally cross but have never even watched an event yet to really know what to expect. I'm not about to sign up to rally my car and drive home hanging a bumper or something. But in the interest of the sport and getting the ball rolling for future events, I would like to help.

1) do i ever drive my car down a dirt road
2) do I ever drive my car down a gravel road 3) do I like to slide the "tail" of my car If you answered "yes" to all (actually any) then come to the RallyCross as an entrant! While it is impossible to actually do what I am going to tell you, here goes--"You will be driving your car, and you can go as fast as you want!" Think it looks to "rally" for you, don't go full out on the throttle. And Phil, I can "almost" guarantee that your bumper want to be hanging off the car at the end of the RallyCross! It is fun, and as Urabus said after our first one, "Forget Solo, let just do this!" |
