Default AC + radiator fan question

When your car is hot and idling and the fan(s) kick in, does your AC clutch engage?

I'd check for ya, but my a/c is on vacation due to a pinhole leak on the line on the drivers side infront of the intercooler. The button light comes on, but the compressor doesn't kick anymore...

The AC compressor should only kick in when you have the AC button pressed in or the defrost setting on the windshield only setting.

?? It does engage when it's supposed to, AC button pressed in or defrost set to windshield only. It doesn't if AC button not pressed in or defrost setting not on windshield only.

Lol, he's not asking for logic, he's asking for someone to see if it does it without pressing the buttons. Easy way to find out, after driving the car (it's pretty warm down here in Florida already), keep engine on, pop hood, wait for fans to come on and glance over if the ac clutch face engages and starts spinning when the radiator and/or a/c fan kicks on. Thats what he's asking for, we all know that the little button labeled "a/c" or selection set to defrost (with fan on) will activate the compressor. You know what I mean thar Vern?

[I don't think it does either tho for all its worth, when my compressor kicks in, it is very very noticible]

But... But... It is logical, If it comes on when the AC button is not pressed in and the defrost is not set at windshield only, Then that's not normal. Something is wrong...

Vern.
