Default disconnected my abs

I did a snowx school yesterday and teh instructer decided we should try with no abs.

good points of ABS, you can steer very easy during a skid. Its a bit pre-emptive but it works well for that

BAD: its scary, stop time is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to long, it comes on to soon and turns off to late. its basically garbage. I refuse to use it from now on, i hav e more control. Threshhold breaking is much better than abs. In the summer with new tires ill probably put it back on, i dont want to flat spot my tires.

That's so true. I wired a switch to mine. My buddy crashed his GT in part because of ABS. He disabled his RS's ABS too. I teach of-road driving and I know all about how to stop.

Subaru should wire a switch in at the factory. The manual says that on snow and gravel stopping time will increase with ABS. It's a Subaru, that where we drive!!! If you take the time to learn how to use the brakes properly you will find that they both have good points and the only solution that makes sense is a switch.

Where did you do snow school?

How did you make out in the collision avoidance exercise? Did you use abs for that exercise?

its ez, basically up to 50km it works extremely well with last minute manovers. Slam teh breaks for a tenth of second, while you slam on the brakes jack the wheel. once u let go of the wheel teh car will jerk in the directoin u want to go and bam! no dead nuns
