Effectiveness of rear spoiler?

Hi,

A question for those of you who have driven your RS (pre MY02) without the rear spoiler .... either through your own choice or by some thieving s#!&

How does the car handle without the spoiler? Big difference?What's it like at speed and through the bends?

I recentley DeSpoilered my coupe, all that thing does is create drag. I may offer a little stability at 140kmh + but the reduced drag is worth it. Havent had much of a chance to test the cornering, but I would be amazed if it makes any difference at the track or AutoX. We will see soon!

The spoiler does make a difference at the track, but you really have to be flying to notice it. I doubt you would notice a difference in regular day to day driving or slaloms.

With the stock spoiler removed I did notice 140km in corners the rear did seem a little less stable. With the 22B stolen it makes a larger difference.

It should probably be pointed out that the stock RS spoilers (sedan and coupe) do not generate downforce, they only prevent lift. (Yes, there is a difference!

)

I doubt you'd notice any significant change except substancially above the posted limits.
