Just got my 16g WRX tuned at GST today! very happy with the results! Thanks Mike and Greg.
271whp/245tq on a mustang dyno. not bad ![]() Just thought I'd like to share it with everyone. especially since theres not too much on standard 16g turbos. The tune is super smooth and runs great! Nice!! When do you see full boost? What is full boost on that setup, and what kind of fuel? Also, looks like you might be getting just a tiny bit of clutch slippage at 4k. Stock clutch?

These two posts have really got me leaning towards a Evo3 16g now once again. 26 psi making 326whp on a mustang? That's golden numbers right there. Any kind of special fuel that goes with that? |

Curious to know how much boost you're running too.
I just did a standard 16g swap too (DB turbo though) with a Clark Turner map, but I was thinking about having it tuned @ GST since they're down the road from me. I've been pretty blown away with the top end power of the 16g. It's a nice compromise to have similar spool to the TD04 with a lot more top end. |

Very nice... on a Mustang dyno too!
A lot of people write off the regular 16G, often missing the fact that not only is it affordable, if offers comparable spool and better cfm output than even the much vaunted VF34. The icing on the cake is that it's rebuildable and can be upgraded to a larger variant down the road if needed. Great choice on injectors, too. A lot of people run pinks with that turbo, but I've always thought they were running the risk of pushing it in terms of IDCs. I have the same injectors, and they've been great so far. It also gives you some headroom if you decide to upgrade the turbo later. Any idea what your injector duty cycles are? I'm on the lowish side with 650s and a DB 16G- right at 70%. If you don't mind me asking, what is your target boost? That's a solid curve you've got there... I'm interested to see if you are pushing over 20 psi. I'm running 19, but am thinking about having it upped once I get some proper gauges to let me closely monitor things once I start really pushing it. Sorry about all the questions; just curious. |

Ive been considering the dp big 16g and those injectors. I know i will talk to my tuner closer to then, but do you think deatschwerks 650s would be large enough for the db big 16g? |

Yes, the 650's will flow enough for any of the 16g's unless your on E85

The above being said, within the next year I am considering sending the turbo back in for upgrade to a "Super 16G," as acceleration over 65 or 70 does take a dive. I wouldn't mind trading a little low end for a bit more top end pull. Since I'm running a stock gear box I haven't bothered to take my car to a strip, but I'd like to do it just once before I go larger so I would have a concrete basis for comparison. Rambling aside, as was mentioned, those injectors should be great for ANY size 16G, and based on what I've seen, will even do well in a basic 18G setup. If you know what your power goals are, you can always refer to this calculator to determine how much injector you need. http://www.deatschwerks.com/catalog/...alculators.php For a WRX, I *think* it is generally recommended to use a BSFC of .59. Once you have your injectors figured out, you can choose your turbo from there. You may already know this, but I'm throwing the info out there just in case. For comparison sake, here was my thread from a while back using a standard 16G: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...t=J.+Steinbeck On the dyno my car spooled hard and early, but some people pointed out that I may be dropping a little more torque toward redline than I should, and I had a little dip at 5,000 rpm that might be the result of some pulled timing. Not sure what the case was, but the car still feels great, and after getting a fairly knowledgeable person to log since then, it appeared that the car is happy. I do wish my curve was as linear as the OPs, though. My numbers are higher, but I was on a Dynojet. I bet we would pull similar peak numbers on the same dyno... he might even push a little higher than me. I don't mean to get off topic; I thought it would be nice to throw some of these results together since it does seems like it is hard to find info on this board from other "regular" 16G users. Thank you.
i agree! very overlooked turbo. and love the fact that FP's are rebuildable. chose the 650's for future plans of an 18g. plus its nice to have headroom. peak boost is 19psi tapered to 17psi. and believe injector duty is similar. Brandon F. |

Seems kinda rich to me.
Good showing for a much more durable turbo than anything in the VF series. I'm not sure why the TDO516G is compared to the VF3X turbos when it's much similar in size to the VF22. Studies show that for some apparent reason 57% of all NASIOC users with upgraded turbos want to suck any "VF" turbo's dick. |

![]() nice power curves, I've gotta say that the 16G is a much better match with the 2l than the 2.5. My boost falls OFF at 5500-6000, but the initial torque just smacks me in the face |

nice numbers..
but afr are abit rich..they are close to what a stock setup would do as far as afr's. if they leaned the afr's 11.5 to 11 you could have gotten some more power & still stayed on the safe side. |

Looks great!! I have the same gears, and turbo on my 2.0l and its a GREAT combination. Only thing that you may run into is the short RA 4th gear at the drag strip if you start trapping over 110mph.. (hey its possible).
Nice tune though, enjoy it! |
