Kartboy Short Shifter.

im looking to get a KB SS.... but i see they make different ones for GCs...

will it make a difference if i buy a 02 WRX KB, and install it on my GC (5speed)
what about the bushings?!

what do u guys suggest..(what do u have)

Depends on what transmission you have in your car. Buy whichever short shifter is made for your trans.

ok... i have the JDM 94 WRX tranny... so im guessing just a regular GC shifter... NOT 02 wrx...

what linkage is it? if the one in the car now is a gold color rod about 1/2 in diameter you need the GC style shifter. if its about 1" and grey metal then you'll need the WRX one. or send me a picture of it and i can get it sorted out. the bushings are all the same.

I thought the Kartboy SS's won't work on our older JDM Trans?????? I have a 93 WRX and I was told its a no go.

That old - usually no, but you can convert to a updated assembly if you'd like.

If you can - post up a pic (I don't have one sitting around here), and I'll grab it and mark up the differences in shifters.

The lever and control rod are the difference.

On the newer ones the clevis is on each end of the control rod, and bushing housings are on the lever and the linkage trunnion.

To change you'll at the very least need the modern linkage, lever and control rod.

I have a 93 JDM WRX can I just find a 2000 2.5rs and swap the linkage? I have driven one before and the shifter is way shorter and smoother than my WRX.

I just moved all my '98 USDM shifter linkages, etc. to the JDM trans so I could use my GC SS. Everything bolted right up.

Nice I will have to figure this then. I hate how long the shifts are on the JDM trans.
