Default Cold Air Intake Noise?

Hey guys and gals,

I am considering addind a Ganzflow CAI to my my02 RS. I have been told by my parts guy at my local Subaru, that adding a cold air intake would increase the noise level that the car makes.

Does anyboy have this particular intake? What is the sound like? I prefere a very understated noise level, I like keeping the stock boxer sound that I have just want to add a bit HP

Thanks for any insight.

adding a cold air intake will normally only increase noise levels at moderate throttle positions, I would go for the cobb intake. . .
what the heck is this thing ---->:monkey:

I would think the Ganz would be the quietest of the aftermarket exhausts. You retain the stock airbox...are not putting a cone filter on...and the tube goes into the fender well. It will be a bit louder...but it's a good loud, trust me.

or spend less money and buy from one of your canadian friends...

I have the pdm intake, it has volume when you're getting on it, but at cruising rpm's it's not much different from stock. For comparison, someone with a cobb rode in my car and said my car is much quieter than his...

I have sound clips of a stock vs ganzflow. click
here
Both clips were recorded exactly the same and you can hear the difference between stock and ganzflow. During normal driving you dont notice a difference. Plus Larry was great to deal with.

Want to know what it sounds like? Remove the intake silencer and that should give you a really good idea. The intake silencer is everything that leads up to the stock air box right on the throttle body/ intake plenum.

Thanks a ton to everyone who helped me out here!

I already love this site, and you guys gave me even more reason to. Man, the sound file comparison was sweet, way above the call of duty.

And all other replies have helped me as well.

Thanks again all, here's a toast to I-clubbers!

I have the PDM, and I only notice the noise increase when I gun the gas. It's all about the throttle - the more throttle, the more air the engine tries to suck and hence the additional noise.
