Default 2008 Wrx Tpms Sensor

i recently got some new rims for my 08 wrx. they told me at pepboys that they couldn't switch out the tpms sensor from my stock rims or they would break getting them out. so i just had them mounted with normal valve stems, is their anyway to pull a fuse or pull a wire to get rid of this annoying light, and will it pass inspection if this stupid light stays on all the time.?

Why didn't they unscrew the sensor from the valvestem and swap it over to the new rim?

I worked at Discount Tire for quite a while and I can probably assume exactly what is going on. The subaru tpms sensors are the Chevy style which is a rubber valve with a threaded hole for the sensor to be screw on. Pep boys likely didn't have the replacement valves which is why they didn't want to switch them over. In all my experience with this style of sensor, they have broken the least. We ran into countless problems with the all metal sensors, but the flexibility allowed by the rubber valve actually helps for a stress free change over. If I were you I would run over to Discount Tire or America's Tire, depending on your location, and have them put the sensors back in so that you can retain the tmps. They will most likely charge you for the mounting and dismounting of the tire, and the cost of the new valves, which sucks because this could have all been done at the time of the original install.

Sorry if that was way to indepth.
