Lowbeams-sorry for the less than stellar pics.

Highbeams.

I hope to get some good night pictures of this setup soon. The beam pattern is great and the H9s really put out an amazing amount of light given that they are only 10 watts more than the stock H11s which are 55 watts. Again, sorry for the poor pics. I think this would be a great and cheap upgrade for anyone with these headlights who wants more light but doesn't want or can't afford HID.

Looks good, Sonny.

You should pop some HIR bulbs in the lows...they are quite impressive in their light output. I used to have them in the LGT before I got the HID's.

Now thats a thought. Do they come in either H9 or H11 size?

Did a little research, and I think they only come in 9005 and 9006. That's actually kind of lame because they are so good. They actually put out light closer to HID levels then standard halogens without actually being HID's or requiring any kind of modification. Although...I still have a couple extras laying around and I just realized that they will fit in my Denali's high-beams....lol.

BTW, sorry I never got back to you on our project last week. Things got busy and I pretty much forgot about it.

hmmm.... invest in some wire loom and heat shrink. It'll make your install way cleaner.
Interesting path with the pitch links to the 500's. Hard to stabilize plastic light housings.

Hey, those look familiar....

I've got a bunch o' pictures too. One problem with a gazillion megapixel cam is resizing everything.....

Can't wait to see the finished results!

Got some pretty cool shots of Rob's too...I'll get them to you eventually. I may just burn them all to a disc and give you the high-res shots to tinker with.

Looks nice once they've been adjusted. Even just the slightest adjustment makes a big difference in the light output.

You should have someone drive your car down the street. TSX's are known for the "flicker"/color that they produce. It looks pretty crazy if you haven't seen it yet.

The ouput is pretty impressive. Just tweaking it a little bit to get that better cutoff put a lot more light out in front where it combines with the other light. Noticeable improvement. We tried to actually get pics of the "flicker," but mine didn't come out very well. It is there, though...we could see it just standing a ways in front and squatting up and down you see it. I'm sure we looked a little bit like we doing some bizarre ritual too....lol.

What projectors do you have? Seem to recall you had Lightwerkz do yours?

Kbeefy: Thanks! Credit goes to Sonny for an excellent job.

Default Jdm blackout

A few more shots:
The hash marks are where I plan on cutting the stock projector/mounting base to mount the new HID projector.

I am making a template as well. I have some ABS sheet plastic I want to make some prototype mounting bases out of just in case.

The prospect is nerve-wracking but the projector is easy to grind pot metal so as long as I don't slip I should be ok.

Thanks! A few more pics of some progress:
I managed to cut the cutoff plate/shroud from the mounting plate without chopping any fingers off-lol! I think I shaved a few years off my psyche though! This can be accomplished with a dremel but I think it would take ages! I used a 4-inch angle grinder with a fresh cutting wheel. I made a few scoring passes before actually cutting the shroud off just to make sure I ended up with a nice even cut all around. This also ensured I had as level a mounting surface for the projector as possible. Notice that I also ground the chrome off the back of the projector to give the epoxy some
"key" to bite into.

Viola! one mounting plate!

Test fit.

After eyeballing everything to make sure I knew about where "level" was then it was time for the Kwik Set JB Weld-this stuff sets up in a big hurry so work fast! It is also supposed to be high temperature and after using some on Scott's retro I can tell you it dries rock hard!

Test fit and test fire-it works!(so far)

Cutoff.

Mockup before painting the bezel black-testing the leds. After some fiddling I decided to try something that wasn't halos or the usual strip of leds. This won't be everyone's cup of tea but since the owner said go nuts I decided, why not?

All lit up! Its hard to get a good shot of this with my camera and I think once the bezel is painted black the leds will stand out a little more.

Thats all for now-more to come Wednesday or so. I plan on a couple more unusual twists-we'll see how it all comes out!

What projector is that? Sorry, didn't realize you were working with a halogen projector. It's actually really nice for a halogen. But below are a ton of pics from various HID projectors that are good to go by for future projects =)

The projectors are actually Bosch HID projectors. They are often reffered to as E46s,which I believe reffers to the model of BMW they are from but I think they are actually called ECEs as I have seen E46s in bixenon configuration as well which gets confusing. The main reason I am using these is the limited amount of space to work with. There is lots of room ahead of the mounting plate due to the stock 3-inch projector but not much behind that. I am looking forward to hearing from you!
