Default Serious question, how do other members get out of being harassed by wannabe racers?

So I'm driving home from work around 1:30 am Thursday when a honda s2000 flies by me. It slows down to match my speed then takes off again. Now I'm thirty years old, I have no interest in racing anyone especially not some jackass on a darkened highway in the middle of deer season. So I slow down, hoping he'll get the point and leave me alone. No such luck, he continues to egg me on swerving in front of me and driving like a retard. I get tired of this and take off, losing him in a matter of seconds. I get about a mile away from him and slow down. Thinking I lost him, I turn the radio back on and resume my commute home when the jackass comes flying up the shoulder and barely misses me. Then his passenger hangs out the window and flips me off. Then they slow down to around 20 mph. I can't pass them, the slower I go, the slower they go. I come to a stop, they stop I speed up they speed up too. It's coming to the point where the only choice I'm looking at is stopping the car, getting out and doing something bad. They are swerving back and forth across the two lane highway when all of the sudden and I swear to god this is true, they catch the end of a guard rail, rip off the nose of their car and slam into the rail. I cannot believe what I'm seeing , but not wanting any part of this I take off and go home.

My question to the Subaru community is this. There has got to be other members on this forum, (I've seen some of their cars on the members car galleries), that are constantly harassed by jack offs trying to race them. Not even taking into consideration the possibility of crashing your car, the tickets, the outrageous insurance rates, possible loss of license and even death that could result from racing another person on the street, I would love to hear the creative ways Nasioc members get themselves out of racing. I'm completely serious, I just have no idea why this honda was so intent on racing me.

Usually they aren't that persistent and give up after you show you have no intention giving in. But sometimes (I'm not condoning) you have to put them in their place. I had to put down a ricer today because I couldn't get over and I needed to turn up ahead.

In your case, when they display dangerous driving like that, I would recommend ignoring.

Just FYI, it's probably better if someone is pacing you to stay at a certain speed than to slow down, because by slowing down they may think you are attempting to get into the proper gearing/rpm for a roll race. That's not always true though.

umm....he tried that. Read it again, there was "i come to a stop. they come to a stop".

I just like to get in front of the car and throw a handful of change out the window..... people stop their cars in a hurry. after that its on so you better go faster!

edit: nevermind.

I understand people get road rage, and Ill shrug it off. But when it gets to the point I am followed to a stop, the game is changing significantly....

Throwing change at a car is absolutely retarded. You have no idea the kind of person you are dealing with or how crazy they will get.

He's a dumbass for trying to avoid these idiots? When crap like that happens you just gotta go the speed limit and eventually they WILL get tired of it, it may take a while but they will drive off eventually.

I have a Thule bicycle rack on top of my wrx....so nobody thinks I can go fast. Plus I think the rack adds like 30hp....

something tells me that the Honda S2000 (AKA-NOT A CHEAP CAR TO **** AROUND WITH) was stolen hence the reason for complete ass-hat behavior.
when you see someone getting this dangerous the light bulb needs to go off in your head and call the cops asap .
This at least gives you some protection for your high speed getaway that you needed to do to protect your self and possibly other innocent drivers or pedestrians.
unfortunately being from the TRI-STATE area there is and always will be a very very high amount of ass-hats !

This.

All you needed was for a cop to see the idiot in the S2000 driving like a moron around you, or you "trying to lose them" ( ) to stop you as well and give you a ticket for street racing.

I think there was a pretty good chance they were trying to jack his car, not race.

it's funny you bring that up, a buddy of mine has a well done 02 s2000 and he was just telling me how they were discussing the price issue on s2ki the other day. you can pick up a 99-03 for like $10-15k therefore its getting easier for 'ricers' to get their hands on 'em (like the wrx). OP, he wanted me to apologize on behalf of the s2k community

Really, Ive seen several of them, (pre-owned of course for around 15,000)

Tell me about it, at least three times a week Im getting harassed to race and I just got new insurance, for the low, bargain price of $413.00 per month

Calling and reporting someone driving dangerously carries any weight? Without proof, it's one's word against the other's...
