Lol, not sure whats going on with the pic, but here you go man!

Guys, this car was both a challenge and a BLAST to tune. For those of you that do not know Jake, his 2002 Wrx has 141,000 miles on the STOCK longblock with a rotated 3076.

If the motor could rev to 8-8500, for sure we would be able to make the power that a 30R is truely capable of on pump. Being that the motor is aged, yet healthy as ever, we decided to call it quits at 24psi and a moderate timing curve

Jake has a fully built rallispec motor as well as 6 speed trans, just waiting. For now he'll enjoy the car, until next weekend when I tune it for C16 and blow something up at the track jk

Jake, the little 2.0 that could! Lets go for 350 next weekend and hold her out a bit longer

I guess nice numbers for a 2.0L....... it is really unbelievable how ****ty the #s are compared to what 2.5L puts down with the same setup.

I need to get PhatBotti tune , I need a sponsor

put the built 2.5L in there already

I agree Juan, its just not the turbo for a stock 2.0. But we are going to have some fun with it next weekend at the track.

Just for your information, on top of that 24psi, your heart would stop if you saw the timing in this thing. I literally started with 10 degrees at redline and just kept up'ing it. If I was still in Jersey, Jake would be screaming "dyno bro!! dyno!"

But, this is the joy of having a $$,$$$ set-up just chillin in your garge, haha. It gives you the luxury of pushing what's already in the car.

New numbers for next weekend

No doubt, the 2.0 is limited in the cams and the fact it's a high RPM motor design without the ability to run high RPMs.

I wouldn't push a stock block much futher. Rods and pistons are both reaching redzone. consider cylinder pressures are ~25% higher than a 2.5L tune at any given WHP level. Then add on a factor for the EJ205 cams sucking at high power levels, and 320 WHP on a 2.0L is at cylinder pressures that the 2.5L sees at 400 WHP or more, which is definitely sketchy for the pistons. And rods have gone through blocks at <350 WHP.

Even given the issues the 2.0 has, 320ish WHP seems pretty low for that turbo. I'd agree that a compression test is in order.

like you stated , this is all good fun. i have a drivetrain on stand by. no sense in blowing it up and blasting the track with fluids. race guess doesn't hurt right?

next one , i'll stroke a 207 with my big port heads so we can rev to 9k. anyway good times. glad you made the trip down. next time you come i'll have some more cars lined up.

phatron/mikey phatbotti power bro.

glad to see you made it home in one piece.

Have you done a compression test on the 140,000 mile motor? Seems low even for airboy since mikey said he added quite a bit of timing...My 2.0 was low in compression I had no idea the thing still blasted around like no other Either way you got the next setup coming it sounds like ....Nice smooth hp/tq curves!

150 across the board. i had jodie behind me the other day and he saw no sign of burning oil under high boost. its easy enough to check it again.

the stock bottom end 2.0 hasn't made crazy numbers on pump...

I think a good comparo is to wrxsti.l with his 3076 2.0. The 98ron is rated at 94 octane (i learned that in england 2 weeks ago). So even with a slightly better gas, the power is relative with a 7whp difference.)

I say the motor is healthy, but doesnt have enough room to make power. We will see next weekend with a better gas if we can get this turbo up and running at an earlier rpm.

Yeah I would say the motor is healthy too, I forgot how much 2.0 numbers vary from 2.5.... I was thinking damn I put down 278whp at P&L back in the day on the 18g with my 2.0 , and right after I got home from P&L ( very next day , Jorge had told me to do a comp test he thought something was off) My 2.0 had a cylinder that was down to 72psi on the compression test.... But thinking back that is a dynojet @ P&L so that makes sense....

Nice to see you tuning these rides mikey I remember when your buddies were giving you **** for messing with RR, look at you go now! I said it before and I will say it again , there no magic to tuning its knowledge....Nice work bro

Thanks buddy.

I am having so much fun with these cars. I'd like to learn other softwares in the future, as well as SD just to expand my knowledge and be open to various setups.

With this, even though I do not want a Utec with SD, it looks like my car will become yet again the test rat

I believe the speed density is almost out for opensource. IIRC Freon was testing a patch. It might already be available.

Ur in luck.....speed density is already available for the 16 bit ecu with OS. I have yet to play around with it. Im going to load it up on my wrx as soon as it gets put back together.
The main points i've gathered so far from the SD thread are
- overall smoothness from more consistent fueling
- tuning of compensations IE IAT's, elevation, coolant temp, etc etc are much more important and SD is more finicky in this way.
- there is an unknown CEL that stays on when ur in GroupN mode.

Can someone explain this to me? There's lots of people with more than 255 WHP on 2.0 blocks. Is this list super old or something? If not can I get put on in a couple weeks when I get tuned?

Alot of people are on jacked up dyno's. The typical SAE dynojet reads 8-12 percent higher usually.

I think the best contendor for the 2.0 in the quest to make the most power (granted not builded to rev past 7) is the hta68. On racegas/meth a stock 2.0 will show just about 360whp all jacked up.

Turbo's such as the 3076, rotated or not, have very little room after achieving full boost to make power.

I assume you're talking about an EJ205 and not an EJ207 - otherwise I'd have to disagree.

The hta68 was hyped up with all those dynojet results, and all the fanbois trying to justify their purchases, but you only have to check out the road dyno thread to see how crap the hta68 really is.

Even on a 2.5L running E70 it barely made 330whp - so on a 2.0L you can subtract from that figure - even a VF39 makes more whp, and that is a seen as a small turbo to most.

As for a GT3076R achieving full boost on a 2.0L - I don't have a problem hitting 24psi by 4500rpm on my 2.0L - and even on pump gas I make more whp on my 2.0L with my bolt-in GT3076R then a 2.5L does with the hta68 running on E70

And I'm running a very conservative tune (and I mean conservative - 10deg/10.8:1 at peak) and no race gas, meth or ethanol at all.

Leslie

P.S. What is a phatbotti tune?

because in the world of dynos 1 hp /=/ 1 hp

when u measure an inch its always an inch no matter what ruler you use. but hp/dynos just arent like that. You can go to 5 different dynos and get 5 different numbers.

Take a look at the 2 plots below......which 350 whp would you rather have?

Heres the plot of my 2.2L w/ a rotated 60lb/min turbo (basically a gt35) on 91 octane.

Heres the same car back when it had the stock motor and a vf34.....on a different dyno.

looks like i'll be top 5. i have to wonder about where these power numbers come from, cause if i plug in different figures in the airboy i can change the result. for example. i know what i weigh. but i am not certain what my car weighs. we guessed stock 02 wrx weighing 3100 , and i have 100lbs of stereo equiptment.

hey mikey...DYNO! lets get 324/300 and get into 3rd place!

I'm not trying to be cool. I'm just stating that the list isn't very accurate

Just wondering why you're posting your numbers in this thread. It doesn't seem relevant. If you want to start your own thread, use the new thread button. If you want to be put on the list, post your numbers with proof in that thread. If you want to be a part of the conversation that's going on here, that's fine too. I'm just trying to see your point, and it's not working.
