I've just ordered yellow fog covers from lamin-x.com for my '07 WRX which has stock fogs on them.
I was wondering if the lamin-x covers are sufficient for increased functionality of the fog lights. Additionally, would getting selective yellow bulbs for them would decrease the light output significant enough to decrease functionality? Recommendations? I've searched and haven't really found great answer. Thanks! ![]() |

yellow bulbs + yellow film = reduced light output. I used phillips foul weather bulbs, they are great, long lasting and yellow enough for me (not JDM yellow, but functional yellow).
they were hard to come by. now i just used glass tint with regular bulbs so I can control how much yellow i want. |

Yellow lights or yellow film on fog lights have no proven benefit while driving. It does not increase visibility nor "penetrate fog." I don't know when the marketing for yellow fogs came about but any benefits is little to none. Fog lights are just nice and low to illuminate as much of the road while limiting amount of light reflected off the fog (glare).
On a side note, I have no idea why on some versions of Subies that the fog lights won't function unless the headlights are on. It defeats the purpose of the fog lights IMO. |

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...ght_color.html It doesn't penetrate fog better, necessarily, but it does make it easier for people to see in poor weather. It has more to do with the way our eyes see light. |
