Default Headlights didn't come on.

I was leaving work today and my headlights didn't come on, I live in a small town so I decided to drive home with my fogs lol and ofcourse I got pulled over, the cop told me to drive home and not leave till I get them fixed, as I pulled away they decided to turn on!! They're a retrofit for my bugeye and here is the parts list:

Black Housing Bugeye Headlights (From Ebay)
DDM Tuning 55watt Slim Ballasts
with 5000k Bulbs
OEM FX35 Bi-xenon projectors
Ocular Projector Shrouds
Bi-xenon Hi/Low Harness (From Ebay)

It's like these things have a mind of they're own, first one night the right side didn't work, then they wouldn't turn off which was just caused my the drl's, and now this...

It's getting kinda aggravating and I was wondering if anyone has any advice...?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I say to check (or replace) both headlight relays that are located in the fuse & relay box that is next to the battery.

I [also] have a Ford Focus that I put a pair of European ST-170 headlamps onto back in 2002, and not more than a week later, the lowbeam relay failed and then eventually the highbeam relay failed shortly thereafter. I replaced both relays and have never had a problem since.

You can use the micro-relays from a Ford Focus, for example, because they are easily soured from an aftermarket parts store (e.g. NAPA; AutoZone; etc.) and this is a relatively inexpensive thing to do.

This is may not be a cure however because electrical gremlins can and do stay around and/or are somewhat difficult to trace down.

Are you saying to replace them with a higher rating relay or just a stock one?

For anyone else: a stock relay is fine. For whatever reason, the relays failed not too long after having installed the lamps so I naturally attributed the failure to this.

Regardless, it happens and sometimes it is as simple as that: the relay goes bad and you replace it [with another one of the same type].
