Hey Guys. This is my first post on the forums. I just uprgaded from a 1992 Toyota MR2 to a Black 2002 Impreza 2.5TS wagon. Got it for $6800 at 51K miles . I plan on doing a few basic things this weekend (air filter, oil change, etc...) I was wondering if it is too late to switch to synthetic oil? Any specific maintenance i should be doing soon? I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as i clean it up.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. 51k miles is pretty low, but the big question is if you have any maintenance data.
If not, change the spark plugs, battery, coolant and transmission+differential oil. Your timing belt is OK as far as the milage goes, but it's old and they do degrade with time. I'd consider changing it, along with the accessory belt

No worries about switching to synth.

Welcome.

I don't know if changing from a MR2 is an upgrade. With an 8 year old car I would look at the 100,000 120,000 service. It's not a cheap one and I am looking down the barrel myself.

Clean and nice, though drop these crappy OEM mudflaps and get somme Rally Armors

Do you know the maintenance history of the car? To keep it safe, I'd flush and change EVERY fluid (oil, coolant, rear diff oil, tranny oil, brake fluid...). get your accessory and timing belts inspected - if not changed. They deteriorate over time, and I would definitely NOT run a car with a 10 y/o belt..
