I looked around on the forum and it seems like the majority of people say you need to remove the bumper on your car to install Hella Supertones. Some people said you might even get around by just removing your grill. Well I don't think it's necessary at all, you can install the horns without removing anything if you buy the Subimods mounting bracket and wire harness fairly easily. I did the entire install in under 20 minutes.

but that just brings up the convenience over cost argument. it only took me 5 minutes to get the bumper off my '08 STI and those horns are easy to mount and wire. with that said, how much did the bracket and harness cost?

Haha that's true. I think if you have the time and DIY skillset mounting the horns yourself may be the way to go since the harness+mount did cost about $50.

Well, some guys prefer to do it DIY and get their hands dirty. I'm just not skilled enough to build my own harness and the bracket gives perfect spacing to the horns so they look right behind the grill. So, I totally agree with you.
BTW, how did you end up organizing all the wiring from the harness? |

You can mount the bracket to the bottom screw which holds the hood latch assembly in place.

Just paid ~100 for the whole thing, you get money off just for registering on their site.
The install is fast and painless, no grill or bumper removing, plug and play, and look great behind the grill. Can laugh at those who buy harness, until your home made one gets wet and shorts something out, or makes your engine bay look like a bowl of noodles.... |

^agreed.
I mean this is your car we're talking about. What is $50.00 more when you want something to look good and last. I'm sure if you have the DIY skills and the time you could make it look just as good. But for the majority of people who just don't have the time, the kit from subimods is a great way to go. And yes, you do get money off why you sign up on their website as well as every time you purchase another product from them. |

How come you installed without removing anything?
I saw this and check my 2011 sti but have no idea installing them without at least removing grill. can you explain more detail process? Thanks. |

Yeah you don't have the remove the grill at all. There is a huge opening under the license plate where you can just remove the bolt and mount your already assembled horns+bracket on. It takes less than 5 mins tbh. 20mins if you want to make it neat.

Xabre, good job on the install "schematic," LOL!
I did exactly what you did, but instead of mounting the relay with zip ties, I used the metal brackets that came with the horns (not the long black one from Subimods.com) and bolted the relay down along with the Subimods.com bracket. |

Lol at buying a harness because the stock voltage to the horns is 12v's so there is no need to install the relay. Just ground the horns and extend the stock horn wire to the hellas.
