Default EJ251 Head gasket part nr

Car: 2003 OBS (EJ251, SOHC, MAP)

Dealer said 11044AA633. It's single metal layer, sandwiched in between black sheets.

Forum wisdom suggested 11044AA642 (04-06 sti EJ255 gasket). Multilayered AFAIK, seems a notch thicker. Dealer went when I mentioned it.

Decision?

Go with what is designed for your engine, unless you have a very good reason to change.

Yeah you're right... but I'm worried about reliability. Since the NA gaskets were notorious to blow and they haven't been redesigned, while the STi ones hold well - I'm leaning towards the latter.

What is this motor going to be, built for turbo in the future, DD? If this is just a HG job, just use the stock HG and call it a day.

Hey Bluefoton,
Good afternon, you can be my saviour...I hope so...I am from Egypt and I own a SUBARU Impreza 2006 and I recently placed an EJ 251 engine in my car, and it needs an engine re-build from the inside, so I cant order any parts from my SUBARU Dealer here in Egypt because they need a Chassis and VIN number so that they can look up anything for me...I believe you once wrote down that you have the EJ251 (SOHC, MAP O2 Sensor) ... is that your stock engine in your car? If the answer is yes, then can you possibly and kindly provide me with a CHASSIS and VIN number that I can use with my dealer to order parts for my engine...thnx so much ...

Is it possible to tell me if you ordered the STI gaskets and if they worked fine for you??

Thanks again..

Hey ballitch,

If you can possibly help me with a VIN and CHASSIS number so that I can order parts more easily in the future...as I am having a lot of trouble now...since I recently installed this EJ251 engine in my Impreza 2006 and the dealer cant help me at all since they dont have anything for EJ251...so I have to order everything...but they need a VIN and CHASSIS number...
