Quick question about coolant changes for head gasket issues

I had the head gasket leak that was typical of Subarus about 30,000 miles ago. I've also seen it discussed in this thread... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4#post26433214

Is it still the consensus to change the coolant to try and avoid corrosion of the gaskets? I know I read somewhere that there's a certain type of coolant that is superior and less likely to become corrosive but I'm not sure what it is... any pointers?

Yes you should change coolant, the schedule will be in your owners manual. I change mine every year. Subaru coolant from the dealer and distilled water.

^ +1. However I was told to follow a two-year change schedule.... some places can check coolant acidity to determine when to change it.
