Default 2002 wrx wont start when cold...not battery issue.

I tried searching, but found nothing, maybe i don't know the proper terms...

Anyway, when my car is colder than -22 F or -30 C, the car wont start for about 5-10 minutes. I turn the key, and the car is completely dead. no dash lights or anything....after 5-10 minutes, it seems to jump to life, and starts no problem.

Do these cars have immobilizer problems when cold? Anything I can check?

there is a flashing red light on the left side of the dash that flashes, maybe that has something to do with it?

How do you know it's not a battery issue? A poor connection at the terminals can cause exactly this type of problem. I'd start by removing the terminals from the battery and making sure they, and the posts, are clean. Then put them back and tighten them securely. If the problem persists look for other poor or intermittent connections in the main power and ground wiring.
There is no factory immobilizer in an '02, only a starter kill if it has the optional alarm. The starter kill will prevent the car from cranking but won't do anything to the dash lights so that isn't where the problem is.
The flashing light may be the security light. If so it should be out if the car was unlocked with the remote, unless it's in valet mode in which case it will blink twice and pause, repeatedly.

It blinks on off on off on off. Like that. And everything works fine except no crank. Not even a clicking. After 5-10 mins, it starts no problem. Has full voltage at cig lighter port too...

Try looking for a bad relay. I've had cars that have sticky relays when cold. I can't tell you which one on the WRX, but it's something to think about.
